Planning a successful blog is the most important step before launching. You have to treat your blog as a business if you want to earn an income.
You would never start a McDonalds Franchise without planning first. A business plan to map out the profitability and goals before you begin.
A successful blog needs to have a good recipe.
Ingredients:
1 large scoop of setting your goals
1 cup or 2 of good writing content
Stir until smooth with regular updates
Topped with a good source of revenue
And serve generously to your reading audience
Blogs can be very quick to set up and start, especially if you have just enough of all the right ingredients, you will be able to accomplish a successful blog.
The topic you choose should have some public interest. You must consider that you would like to earn an income, so stick to the facts. Brainstorm several different topics and try to see which topic you get a response from. Research you topic and observe other blogs, it will help to get you started.
You really need a mass audience, so concentrate on your blog having mass appeal. A political blog can become a very popular blog, but most political issues are centered around a local area, so they can be limited. You may consider a blog about your favorite actor/actress. Especially someone that has been in the headlines lately. The bigger the star, the more we want to read about them. We have a natural curiosity.
Commit yourself to writing frequently. Now frequently could be described by one person as daily, but to someone else it could be three times a day. Try and pace yourself so that you keep it interesting. Do not force content and never copy work by other writers. Techniques and styles can be learned from other writers, but plagiarism is not cool.
Just as important as attracting traffic, so is the need for correct spelling and grammar. We may love to write, and we cannot all be English Teachers. Poorly written, misspelled or bad grammar will define the quality standard of your blogs.
Creating regular traffic is the first step to setting a successful path for a regular income.
